"Hobbit" is a book written by J. R. R. Tolkien, who was an English writer and wrote many books, which action is in the Middle-Earth, like this book or "The Lord of the Rings". This book is a set-book in Polish Elementary School and I read this novel for the first time, when I am in 6th class.
This book tells a story about Bilbo Baggins, the hobbit from the Hobbiton in the Shire. He has many adventures with a wizard and dwarves. They meet trolls, goblins and many strangers people or different creatures. The dwarves search for revenge, because they have lost an old, big kingdom. This novel tells about Bilbo's changing, a battle of Five Armies and the Ring. "Hobbit" is called a prologue from "The Lord of the Rings".
The main character - Bilbo is dynamic, his life changed from a domestic hobbit to a brave warrior and a good friend to dwarves and elves. He opens the Hobbit' age, what happened in next book of Tolkien. Baggins is a smart, nice character.
The background of this story is a beautiful world - Middle-Earth. The world, which was entirely a Tolkien's idea. He created new languages (Mordors, Elves, Dwarvish) and a new kind of civilization - the Hobbbits. He based his new world on English, German and Nordic mythology. The Middle-Earth is a world with many secrets, a fantasy civilization and has its own history and mythology. The second, different universe, which have a own life.
I recommend this book and other Tolkien's books. The action is fast, a vocabulary is very easy, therefore "Hobbit" is a perfect book for people, who learn English. You must read the book , before a watch a film.
